NuWay Kitchens Limited was founded in 1967 by Harvey Short Sr. It was a modest start, but already the company direction’s was in place: to build durable, artistic, custom-made factory kitchens that would stand the test of time.

It wasn’t long before demand grew for this exceptional product with service to match. The first plant was opened in 1970, with continual growth throughout the 70s and 80s leading to seven additions to the original plant. Always one step ahead, NuWay acquired the latest technology to ensure they provided superior results that exceeded expectations.

In 1989 a new facility was constructed in Paradise, Newfoundland, containing the corporate offices, a large showroom and manufacturing plant. From this location, NuWay was even better equipped to deliver an outstanding product, even more efficiently. In 1990, NuWay began a new venture, Horizon Laminates Ltd., a manufacturer of rolled edge counter tops. This enabled NuWay to become an end-to-end operation and to ensure a consistent level of quality through all components of their cabinetry. True to their mission to stay on the cutting edge of technology, Horizon Laminates Ltd. was the first plant of its kind in Newfoundland.
